Accessing Wisdom through Symbols
Throughout the evolution of human life, symbols have been the conveyers of information, meaning, and history.  Every civilization and culture makes its imprint on the world in the form of symbols.  From the earliest paintings of Cave Dwellers to modern day corporate logos and the use of advertising images to subliminally induce purchases, symbols are the visual language that we rely upon to communicate with one another.  Symbols help us to define and identify ourselves and to communicate that identity to others.  While we remain largely unaware of their impact, symbols profoundly affect our emotional, psychological, and spiritual experience.  The simple act of wearing the logo of a favorite sports team stimulates a variety of thoughts, emotions, and behaviors for the one wearing the logo as well as supporters of opposing teams.

Symbols are also the language by which we remain connected to our deeper selves as expressed in artistic creativity, religious and spiritual ritual, and throughout the history of psychological inquiry.  We are all familiar with the power of dreams and the sometimes unsettling symbols and images the unconscious mind displays in an attempt to wake us from the hypnotic spell of conventional life.

While symbols serve as guideposts in our conventional life, the deep intrinsic meaning they have carried throughout time is their true gift to those who seek wholeness.  As Dr. Carl Jung discovered, symbols carry meaning that is universal to all human beings at the level of the psyche (soul).  Therefore, study of universal symbols provides a glimpse into our souls, the essence of who we are beneath the surface of our personality.  Symbol work provides a bridge between our inner and outer life allowing us to live free of the distress and dis-ease that result when our outer behavior is not aligned with our inner wisdom.  For those in recovery from addiction, symbol work is an excellent means of developing a relationship with the Higher Power that live within each of us.

Carol's symbol work  and practice is centered in Pythagorean Numerology, Esoteric Tarot, and Usui Reiki Ryoho.  In addition to individual training and consultations with these systems, Carol offers introductory workshops you can read more about in Events.  Incorporating symbolwork as part of a private party or group functions is a sure way to add interest, excitement, and fun to the event.
